چکیده
Surface pressure-area isotherm and layer-by-layer phospholipid monolayer transfer for fabrication of SLBs: Surface pressure versus area-per-molecule isotherms were recorded using the KSV LB rectangular mini Trough (area, 240 cm 2 ) equipped with a Wilhelmy balance. A platinum sensor of accuracy 0.1 mN/m was used to measure the interfacial surface pressure. A chloroform solution of either one component DOPC, POPC and DMPC lipid or binary mixture containing varied cholesterol content such as 3:1, 2:1 and 1:1 were spread on the air–water interface of a LB trough at 20 oC using a precise Hamilton syringe to make a compact monolayer. After evaporation of chloroform, the isotherms were recorded at constant temperature and a barrier speed of 5 mm/min.

Molecular dynamics simulation of interaction of Melittin and DMPC bilayer: Temperature dependence
The interaction between proteins and membranes has an important role in biological pro-cesses.We have calculated energies of interaction between Melittin and DMPC bilayer in differenttemperatures. We have used the CHARMM software for MD simulation under the canonical (N,V, E) ensemble at different temperatures. The computations have shown that water moleculeshave more penetration into the bilay...
متن کاملStructural Insights into Clostridium perfringens Delta Toxin Pore Formation
Clostridium perfringens Delta toxin is one of the three hemolysin-like proteins produced by C. perfringens type C and possibly type B strains. One of the others, NetB, has been shown to be the major cause of Avian Nectrotic Enteritis, which following the reduction in use of antibiotics as growth promoters, has become an emerging disease of industrial poultry. Delta toxin itself is cytotoxic to ...
متن کاملFouling Mechanism Study of Nanoporous Membrane by Ultrafitration of Whey Proteins
One of the barriers during whey filtration using UF membrane is the fouling phenomenon of the membrane, which is caused by whey proteins. In this work, the UF membranes were prepared using polysufone (PSf), dimethyl formamide (DMF), 1 wt.% poly vinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) and different concentrations of LiCl via phase inversion induced by immersion precipitation. The prepared membranes were charact...
متن کاملBax, but not Bcl-xL, decreases the lifetime of planar phospholipid bilayer membranes at subnanomolar concentrations.
Release of proteins through the outer mitochondrial membrane can be a critical step in apoptosis, and the localization of apoptosis-regulating Bcl-2 family members there suggests they control this process. We used planar phospholipid membranes to test the effect of full-length Bax and Bcl-xL synthesized in vitro and native Bax purified from bovine thymocytes. Instead of forming pores with repro...
متن کاملGraphene-Induced Pore Formation on Cell Membranes
Examining interactions between nanomaterials and cell membranes can expose underlying mechanisms of nanomaterial cytotoxicity and guide the design of safer nanomedical technologies. Recently, graphene has been shown to exhibit potential toxicity to cells; however, the molecular processes driving its lethal properties have yet to be fully characterized. We here demonstrate that graphene nanoshee...
